It provides wireless solutions for the mobile enterprise, security and surveillance, last mile access, voice and data backhaul, public hot spots, and metropolitan area networks. Proxim was formerly known as Western Multiplex Corporation and changed its name to Proxim Corporation in 2002. On June 11, 2005, Proxim Corporation filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The plan was later approved as Chapter 11 liquidation on January 18, 2007.  In July 2008 Proxim Wireless moved its headquarters to Milpitas, California from San Jose.

Proxim wimax ’s products include :

  • wireless wide area network (WWAN) and wireless local area network (WLAN).
  • The WWAN product line comprises point-to-point Lynx products that are primarily used by wireless operators to connect their base stations to other base stations and to existing wire line networks
  • Tsunami products that enable service providers, businesses, and other enterprises to expand or establish private networks by bridging Internet traffic among multiple facilities and connect end-users to a central hub.
  • The WLAN products include ORiNOCO products, offer solutions for enterprises and municipal area networks enabling corporate user access and creation of indoor and outdoor networks in small, medium and large venues.
