Today Alvarion announced the launch of the Star Management Suite. The new comprehensive network management solution will give users greater control over their network with a common feature set across the entire family of BreezeMAX solutions.
The Star Management Suite meets performance, scalability and security requirements necessary for large networks. It enables users to simplify management of innovatiove IP services such as VOIP and IPTV in addition to serving multiple types of network topologies with quick time to market introduction of new customer premise equipment (CPE) and IP based services.
“We are enabling significant operational savings for our customers as they build and scale their WiMAX networks, and add new innovative IP services,” said Avinoam Barak, president of wireless network division of Alvarion. “The Star Management Suite provides a solid foundation for the management platform for service assurance capabilities that are essential to meeting service level agreements our customers are demanding today.”
The BreezeMAX base station is a highly modular and scalable base station, available in micro and macro sizes to ensure maximum cost efficiency. Here are the main attributes :
WiMAX-ready design for future support of WiMAX certified mode
Flexible and modular design with unmatched sharing capacity of one line card on four radio sectors spiraling up to the capacity of four line cards on one radio sector enabling capacity from 4.5Mb up to 72Mb per sector
Over 30km coverage
SNMP central management using AlvariSTAR™
BreezeMAX Macro Base Station
The macro base station is an 8U high cPCI shelf that fits in standard 19” or ETSI racks. The base station contains a network and radio modules, power supply and power feeding modules. All the modules are hot swappable and high availability can be provided through multiple redundancy schemes. Support for smart antenna techniques, including space time coding (STC), polarization diversity and maximum ratio combining (MRC) together with high power radios enable the operation of indoor self-install CPEs in dense urban and suburban environments.
BreezeMAX Micro Base Station
The micro base station is ideal for operators needing a cost effective, scalable WiMAX-ready base station solution for maximum return from their network deployment, especially targeted for low-density or rural areas. It is comprised of a stand-alone module (1U high 19”) that connects to the same outdoor radio unit as the macro base station radio. With this common connection, operators have the ability to mix and match base stationtypes according to deployment needs while enjoying the same feature set, provisioning and management functionality in both wimax base stations.
Alvarion is a worldwide provider of WiMAX and wireless broadband network solutions with about 3 million units deployed in 150 countries, headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The company has strategic relationships with Siemens, Alcatel- Lucent, Nera, and IBM. Alvarion was founded in 1992. It was formerly known as BreezeCOM, Ltd. and changed its name to Alvarion, Ltd. in 2001.
The Alvarion’s WiMAX-based product includes BreezeMAX, which supports fixed, nomadic, and portable services, BreezeACCESS products that enable fixed high-speed data and voice, and point-to-multipoint wireless broadband applications…
Alvarion BreezeMAX enables converged voice, video and multimedia services over an all-IP network architecture. BreezeMAX enables more users per cell site and more available bandwidth, resulting in less required sites and reduced CAPEX and OPEX. This widely deployed platform supports a modular, scalable and future-proof network architecture, and flexible pay-as-you-grow deployment schemes for rapid market penetration.
BreezeMAX Base Station
Alvarion’s modular and robust base station includes an advanced management application and is available in
four designs:
BreezeMAX Macro Base Station : Available in scalable, high-density configurations particularly suitable for large-scale deployments supporting up to 3 sectors.
BreezeMAX Micro Base Station : Small form factor base station addressing the demands of small deployments with basic functionalities and a limited number of subscribers, and offering a cost-effective solution for operators deploying in rural areas.
BreezeMAX Elite Base Station : All outdoor, full-featured macro base station with an optimized weather configuration; a versatile upgrade process from single sector configuration to multi-sector, multi-carrier deployments; and flexible mounting options for rooftops, walls, poles and towers.
BreezeMAX Extreme Base Station : All outdoor, all-in-one, easily installed, compact and cost-effective micro base station, designed with a modular architecture and supporting up to 2 sectors on a single device.
BreezeMAX End User Equipment
BreezeMAX PRO-S consists of an indoor unit and an outdoor unit that contains the modem, radio, data processing and management components,as well as an integral high-gain flat antenna with either vertical or horizontal polarization. An ODU with a connector to an external antenna is also available.
BreezeMAX Si is a self-installable, nomadic WiMAX subscriber unit providing broadband data services in a compact design. Ideal for residential and SOHO users, it is a complete indoor solution (without the need for an outdoor unit) supplied with installation software. Furthermore, BreezeMAX Si supports both a smart card and a USB dongle for simple remote connection.
BreezeMAX™ is an advanced WiMAX solution available deployed since 2004 by over 130 operators in more than 30 countries, and the first to offer CPE powered with Intel PRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface WiMAX chip.
Built from the ground up based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard, BreezeMAX™ Alvarion supports fixed, nomadic and portable services with a clear path for the emerging WiMAX mobile industry based on the IEEE 802.16e standard. BreezeMAX is designed for a variety of frequencies in both licensed and license-exempt bands from 2GHz to 6GHz spectrum, and operates in both FDD and TDD duplex modes.
The system, with excellent sensitivity and market leading OFDM radio technology, is robust to operate in adverse channel conditions and non-line-of-sight links. With high power radios that support diversity and smart antenna techniques, BreezeMAX enables the use of indoor self-install CPEs in both dense urban and suburbanenvironments. BreezeMAX CPEs are powered by Intel’s PRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface chip and deliver wimax broadband access services to a wide range of customers, including residential, SOHO, SME, large enterprise and multi-tenant customers.
